In this you will get a chance to see further reaches of the Curacao moving away from Willemstad and Spanish Water to the countryside of the island
High-lights: Spanning the entrance to the harbor; Observe Fort Amsterdam and Fort Nassau and look down on the dolphins in their natural habitat. Fly over the Gold Coast of Spanish Lagoon, where the rich and famous have their mansions.
Short history: In 1634 a group of colonists from Amsterdam (Hence the name Fort Amsterdam at the entrance of the harbor) in search of treasure settled here. The Dutch West Indian Company, backed by the Dutch Crown, claimed Curacao. The island soon began to prosper under Dutch rule and became an important trading center, making it a ripe target for pirates and buccaneers.
After discovering the harbor and the city, we escape civilization (City-Harbour Discovery and Spanish Water Discovery included) !
Ride shotgun with our pilots over the uninhabited country-side of Eastpoint with its ruins of ancient plantations; Pass Devil's Cliff, the doom of many a ship, where at night the vessel's ghost captains can still be heard whimpering to mourn and pray for their lost ship and crew; Soar over Eastpoint Bay, where Eagle Rays are sometimes visible ''flying'' with their broad wings over the white sandy bottom; Big turtles are seen in their natural habitat looking for a place to bury their eggs.
Circle over the cliffs of Canon Point. Currents here are so treacherous that many a swimmer lost the contest; Fly by the rough untamed North Coast. The huge waves, built up by the trade winds all the way from the eastern Caribbean Sea, throw themselves with disdain on the rocky shore, spraying the coast with a constant layer of salt making it uninhabitable and almost convince you that you fly over Mars. This is also home to many wild donkeys and roaming sharks. If we're lucky we'll spot this ruthless ocean predator in Playa Canoa, the only bay on the island where surfers like to catch a wave and play tag with the sharks.
